How to use Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a messaging app that allows you to communicate with your team via text chat, audio call, or video call to share files and send updates. You can login to Microsoft Teams through the app or through the website.
Setting up Microsoft Teams
How to Get a Team
Faculty and staff with an Office 365 account can request a Team to be set up. You can make the request through the Enterprise Service Centre
Managing your Team
Adding a Channel
Select More Options next to the team name
Select Add channel
If you want this channel to be visible in everyone’s channel list, under Privacy select Automatically show this channel in everyone’s channel list. Otherwise select Private – Accessible only to a specific group of people within the team, and type in the names of who you would like to invite to the channel

Managing Team Members
Select More Options next to the team name
Select Manage Team. Here you can add or remove members, change member roles, or search for a member

Meeting with Teams
Scheduling a Meeting
Select Calendar > New meeting
Choose a date and time
Enter names in the Invite people box to add them to the meeting. If you wish to invite someone who is not a part of your team, enter their email address instead.
Select the drop-down arrow under Select a channel to meet in to change the meeting’s privacy settings Select None to keep meeting private or select a specific channel to open it to members of that channel
Click Save. This will send the meeting invites and add the meeting to the calendar

Joining a Meeting
In the Teams meeting invite, select Join
You have two choices
Select Join Microsoft Teams Meeting
Call in using the dial-in number and conference ID
Choose your audio and video settings
Select join now

Sharing your Screen
Select Share
Select what you wish to share
Desktop shares everything on your screen
Window lets you share a specific app
Browse allows you to select a specific file to share
Select Stop sharing to stop showing your screen

Recording a Meeting
Once in the meeting, under meeting controls select More options > Start recording
All meeting attendees will be notified that a recording has started
To stop recording, under meeting controls select More options > Stop recording
The recording will then be processed and saved to Microsoft Stream. You will receive an email from Microsoft Stream when the recording is available

Additional Meeting Features
See who’s in the meeting by selecting Show participants
Access the meeting chat by selecting Show conversation
Mute and unmute yourself by selecting the microphone icon
Turn your video off and on by selecting the Camera
Chatting with Teams
Starting a Chat
Select New chat at the top of the page
Type the name of the person or people you want to send a message
Type your message below and click Send
Starting a Video or Audio Call
Select Audio call or Video call on the top right of the chat screen
