Removing PDF Permissions

Cases in which this could be relevant:

• Students receive encrypted transcript files from Parchment and can’t send the document.

• General PDF file encryption.

Solution:

Very simple, though saving file as PDF from a 3rd party tool such as Adobe doesn’t seem to remove file permissions and/or encryption, you can do this from the browser to remove them.

1. Open the PDF in your browser of choice

2. Locate the print button(shown below for chrome browser) or press CTRL + P(windows), Command + P(mac)

   Open

   

3. Select printer source to ‘Save as PDF’

4. Save

5. The saved file should now have permissions/encryption removed.
